A version of this song migrated from the Derbyshire coal-fields, in the 18th. century, to the coal-fields of Pennsylvania. There it became popularised by its amalgamation with the melody of: 'Life Is Like A Mountain Railroad'. With its new tune it relocated back to the U.K., in the 1970s.
